When we see Aboriginal designs in the world, it means Indigenous people are not invisible in the landscape.
But, purchasing from Aboriginal brands, businesses and wearing Indigenous designs alone is surface-level allyship. There needs to be more commitment than just buying from Aboriginal brands and businesses.
Wearing Aboriginal design is not dismantling a system that oppresses Indigenous people. Allies need to do more and learn more. Wearing our tees is a great starting point. We have equipped you with our merch and some of the educational content to go with them. We want you to go out in the world, have these important conversations and find ways to do more and support more.
The full phrase "Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land" can be traced back to the Aboriginal land rights movement in far-western New South Wales.
The late Barkandji man Uncle William Bates is credited with leading the rallies that birthed the cry, which is now ubiquitous at Aboriginal civil rights rallies.
The phrase came from a conversation in which Uncle William said to his father, "it's not your land anymore, whitefellas own it".
Uncle Jim Bates replied: "No, they only borrowed it; it always was, and always will be Aboriginal land."

I love Hoodies and I love this colour and the message on the back is easy to read when worn. When I put my hand in the Hoody, I honestly just went wow out loud in the store and my jaw dropped. It’s the kind of quality you used to be able to find a good 20 to 30 years ago. The added bonus is this has a message, not a brand logo.
