Wearing Aboriginal design is not dismantling a system that oppresses Indigenous people. Allies need to do more and learn more. Wearing our tees is a great starting point. We want you to go out in the world, have these important conversations and find ways to do more and support more.

A few years ago I bought a green 'Bunjil' t-shirt. I love the colour, the embroidered 'Heal Country' underneath, and the embroidered Bunjil high enough to show when I wear a shirt over the top. The colour, the logo, and the Wurundjeri totem are a constant reminder of the land where I have lived most of my life, and the people of the lands on which I walk, work, laugh, sing, and interact with people. I wear it to show those I meet where we are, and to invite discussion. But after the years of wear, I felt I needed another. The new one has a slightly larger embroidery of Bunjil, set a little lower so it shows a little less with a shirt over the top. The ‘Heal Country’ is gone, but on the back, there is another embroidery: Honour those who have been. Our past. Respect those who are here. Our present. Care for those who come. Our future. These t-shirts help to shape the way I think about the world and people around me.
