About Us
Clothing The Gaps Pty Ltd is an Aboriginal-led, majority Aboriginal-owned social enterprise and community brand that unites people through fashion and causes.
Co-founded in 2019 by Laura Thompson (Gunditjmara) and Sarah Sheridan (non-Indigenous), the business is based in Naarm (Melbourne) and creates merch with a message that encourages people to wear their values.
Clothing The Gaps was recognised for its impact at the 2020 Dreamtime Awards, receiving Business of the Year.
We make our clothes with Mob in our heart and everyone in mind. Our garments are often labelled Ally Friendly or Mob Only, which came from customers asking, “Can I wear that?”.
We produce merch with a message and encourage people to wear their values on their tee. Through fashion and social justice campaigns, we have sparked important conversations and led national campaigns such as Free The Flag and Not A Date To Celebrate.
Today, Clothing The Gaps has grown into one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal social enterprise fashion brands, using clothing as a platform for advocacy, education and social change.
The name Clothing The Gaps is a play on Closing the Gap, the national initiative addressing health and life expectancy inequities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The business originally operated as Clothing The Gap, before changing its name to Clothing The Gaps following a trademark dispute with the US clothing retailer Gap Inc.
