Why Our Reversible Spray Jacket Is PFAS-Free: Protecting You and Country
When it comes to staying dry, we shouldn’t have to choose between safety and performance. That’s why our Reversible Spray Jacket is proudly PFAS-free. PFAS, a chemical commonly added to water-resistant clothing and many other products, has devastating impacts on health and the environment. Despite the added cost of producing a PFAS-free garment, we made the conscious decision to say “nah to PFAS” because protecting you and the planet is always worth it.
Let’s dive into why this choice matters, and why we’re taking a stand for your health and the wellbeing of Country.
What’s NOT in our Reversible Spray Jacket?
PFAS. And here’s why that’s a big deal.
PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a group of toxic, man-made chemicals designed to never break down. They’ve earned the nickname “forever chemicals” because they stick around in the environment and in our bodies for generations.
Unfortunately, PFAS are pretty much everywhere they can be found in tap water, cosmetics, non-stick pans, food packaging, carpets, and water-resistant clothing.
And the worst part? PFAS have been linked to a range of health issues, from liver damage to weakened immune systems. These chemicals also affect our land and water, making them dangerous for both people and Country.
Why We Said "Nah" to PFAS
At Clothing The Gaps, we stand with Senator Lidia Thorpe’s 2024 Senate motion to investigate the harmful impacts of PFAS. Her fight is our fight — a fight for better health, a healthier environment, and a brighter future for us all.
We’ve made a conscious decision to take action in our design choices. By ensuring our water-resistant jackets are 100% PFAS-free, we’re doing our part in standing up for what’s right.
